The studio has developed a mixed use transformational scale urban masterplan for the Tradeston area of Glasgow, a location that has largely suffered from the demise of river related industry and previous poor zonal planning policies. Our development framework expands on our work around Clyde Place where we have led in the creation of a new waterfront campus for Barclays.
The locations regeneration will positively consolidate a number of neighbouring regeneration projects including Laurieston to the east, another area of the City that the practice has a legacy involvement with.
The proposed development supports Glasgow's vision to enhance its river skyline and international image with high quality architectural design. Our approach to townscape was to encourage a ‘Mini Manhattan’ complexity.
The rigorous street pattern determined by Glasgow’s gridiron plan creates clear development parameters.
Central to our masterplan is the development of each urban block with a mix of use that encourages active ground floors. The environment is also designed to prioritise the pedestrian taking advantage of the location high accessibility.
