Jedburgh Intergenerational Community Campus

Jedburgh, Scotland

The Scottish Borders Council has commissioned us for the development of a new Intergenerational Learning Campus in Jedburgh. SBC aim to strengthen Jedburgh as a learning town, where the ritual of education is embedded in the character and quality of the place. Jedburgh has been identified as requiring investment to improve its existing school estate across the full 3-18 provision. Importantly the school and its buildings are a valuable resource for the community beyond the school day. Consolidation and improvements therefore requires addressing both education and community requirements. A key focus has been in the development of the learning environments to make internal and external learning better suited to the curriculum and more flexible, moving away from institutional 'chalk and talk' and 'departmental' models.
