Our design for the new Oman Parliament was bold and confident yet humble and harmonious. Our objective was to create harmonious architecture, architecture that responds seamlessly to the environment, culture and political context of Oman. Our proposal has been thoroughly researched with our development process continually reflecting on the underlying concept of harmonious architecture.
An architecture unique to Oman was proposed, unique to the site and fundamentally inspired by the teachings of the Quran and the celebrated natural orders embedded in Islamic Art.
At the centre of the building is a new assembly space for political discourse and reflection. It is from this space that the building appears to radiate out from or inversely radiate into the activity of governance itself.
