V&A Dundee

Dundee, Scotland

Shortlisted design in collaboration with Joshua Prince Ramus of REX Architecture for the V&A's new design museum on the banks of Dundee's River Tay.

The Dundee V&A initiative sought to create what it called a new living room for the city – a place for all to enjoy and be inspired. The building was to house a series of galleries to be dedicated to the story of Scotland’s outstanding design heritage – of the past, present, and future. The brief presented a number of exciting challenges and stringent planning, lighting, climate and security demands. The site, which extended out into the water, offered up unique structural, phasing questions along with ambitious environmental targets.
