Union Terrace Gardens

Aberdeen, Scotland

Appointed by Aberdeen City Council to develop a family of buildings as part of the Union Terrace Gardens redevelopment, a key public space at the heart of Aberdeen's city centre. The new buildings perform an important role in reconnecting the Gardens with the surrounding public realm. A close and collaborative relationship was developed with the landscape architects to ensure wider urban design and landscape objectives for the project.

The three buildings support a variety of uses including a new cafe, gallery space, and coffee shop. A simple and restrained architectural approach has been developed with a limited palette of high-quality materials.
