Exploring a Playful Structural Aesthetic

A playful project that the practice considered was the design of a series of structures made from between 100-200 picnic tables for a commission in Ards Forest Park. The team explored how we could take the ordinary picnic table, a highly familiar if somewhat unremarkable object found in all forest parks and combine them to create something remarkable. Various architectural forms where explored. Notably when the tables are combined they lose their identity creating a whole new structural aesthetic.
